The sleep bag presents a serious risk of suffocation, overheating and death as it has a head covering. This breaches the clause in the relevant standard, BS EN 16781, as it can allow the user to overheat. The presence of the head covering can lead to a rise in a child’s core temperature and has been associated with sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The presence of a hood can also obstruct the user’s airways, causing them to suffocate.
