FOLO-UP Whistle Public · Chrome Web Store

See the signal. Flag the listing.

FOLO-UP’s Whistle helps consumers, responsible businesses and enforcement teams report concerns about online products, connect those reports to FOLO-UP’s safety intelligence and evidence-capture system, and track cases from submission to evidence-based action.

Public access allows up to 20 submissions per browser session/hour, with additional installation and network flood limits. FOLO-UP staff and paying customers can receive a controlled Professional edition with an individually issued access key and no application-level hourly report quota.

On first use, Whistle explains the listing information it processes and requires acknowledgement of the Privacy Notice and Terms. Automatic listing-status checks remain off unless the user enables them. Whistle then appears automatically on recognised marketplace listings; if it does not, select the Whistle icon from the browser toolbar or extensions menu.

Public My Whistle Reports is local only: report receipts stay in that browser installation and are permanently lost if Whistle is removed or its extension data is cleared. They do not transfer to another device and FOLO-UP cannot recover them. Only an authorised Professional profile is kept remotely for follow-up.

FOLO-UP Whistle is now installed from its official Chrome Web Store listing in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Store installations receive updates automatically through the browser.

Six FOLO-UP listing indicators

Report totals create Grey, Yellow, Orange and Red automatically. Green and Black require a controlled human review, public explanation and evidence source.

How many Whistle reports? The count indicates only how many separate reports of concern have been recorded for a product. It does not show that the concerns are reasonable or that the product has been checked by an appropriate body. Multiple reports may warrant greater caution.
Grey · 0 · No reportNo report exists for this purified listing address. No safety, authenticity or legality conclusion can be drawn.
Green · OK · CheckedHuman review found no concern in the reviewed evidence. OK replaces the report count; earlier reports remain visible as history and the evidence is stored. This is not a universal safety guarantee.
Yellow · 1–4 reportsOne to four unverified concerns have been reported.
Orange · 5–10 reportsFive to ten unverified concerns have been reported.
Red · 11+ reportsEleven or more unverified concerns have been reported. Thresholds will be reviewed as usage grows.
Black · NO · ConfirmedAn evidence-based finding and/or official action is supported by a recorded source. NO replaces the report count and earlier reports remain visible as history.

How “My Whistle Reports” works

Whistle Public keeps a private, browser-only receipt after a successful report. It lets you revisit the listings reported from this installation and request their latest public FOLO-UP status without registering an account.

Public · this browser only
1 Submit a report

Open Whistle on a recognised marketplace listing, confirm good faith and select Possible fake/copy product or Possible unsafe product. A local receipt is saved after the server accepts the report.

2 Open your local history

Select My Whistle Reports at the bottom of the Whistle popup. No name, email address, account or registration is required.

3 Read and filter the records

Use Show to view all listings, received reports or completed public reviews. Each purified listing address appears once, even if its receipt is updated later.

4 Refresh public status

Select Refresh status to request the latest aggregate counts and public human-review outcome for every saved listing. Refreshing does not submit another report or increase a counter.

What the dashboard and cards mean
  • Listings stored locally counts unique purified listing addresses saved by this installation.
  • Possible fake-product concerns and Possible unsafe-product concerns count your local receipts tagged with each category.
  • Public reviews available counts followed listings for which a public human-review outcome is available.
  • The large circle shows the accepted report count or a reviewed OK/NO outcome; the smaller badges show aggregate fake/copy and unsafe-product reports across installations. Counts are not findings and do not identify people.
  • Submission and last-refresh dates show when this browser saved or refreshed its receipt. Open purified listing returns to the canonical marketplace address.
What is saved—and what is not

The local receipt can include the product title, marketplace, purified listing URL, your report category, submission date, aggregate report totals and the last public status refreshed. Public history is limited to the 250 most recent unique listings.

It is not a remote FOLO-UP account or backup, does not synchronise to another browser or device and cannot be recovered by FOLO-UP. Removing Whistle or clearing its extension data permanently deletes this local history. Reports already received by FOLO-UP remain in the intelligence intake; clearing the local receipt does not withdraw them. Recoverable remote follow-up is available only with an authorised Professional profile.

Automatic updates—and moving from the manual beta

Chrome or Edge updates the Store edition automatically. If you previously loaded the Public beta manually, the Store edition may appear as a separate extension and its browser-only My Whistle Reports history will not transfer. Keep any information you need before removing the beta, then disable or remove the old beta to avoid duplicate Whistle icons. Reports already received by FOLO-UP remain in the intelligence intake.

Private by design, limited against flooding and misuse

FOLO-UP stores salted one-way fingerprints for a random extension installation ID and browser-session ID in its intake database. Standard security logs are retained separately for a limited rotation period. The same installation or session cannot increase the count for the same purified listing. A reporter must confirm that the submission is a genuine good-faith concern. False, misleading, malicious or retaliatory reports, or attempts to coordinate with others to make them, may be rejected, quarantined or restricted. Every report remains an unverified allegation until human review.

Whistle is an independent service—not an emergency service, regulator, marketplace, manufacturer or testing body. A Whistle report does not automatically notify those organisations and does not replace official reporting, recall checks or professional advice.
