The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as it features a ‘clover’ style plug and has poor mechanical strength. Due to being fitted with a non- BS 1363 plug, there is less than the required 9.5mm between the edge of the live pin and the side of the plug face, which presents hazards when the plug is inserted or removed from a socket. Also, when impact tests were performed, the white control enclosure broke open, giving users access to live parts, which if touched, could result in an electric shock. The creepage and clearance distances between live and neutral on the control PCB tracks were 1.0mm, below the required 1.5mm clearance and 2.5mm creepage. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.
