The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as it was found to be inadequately earthed, meaning that if a fault was to occur, the product could become live and give the user an electric shock. The clamping means are not adequately secured against accidental loosening and the terminal had not been tightened. The connection between the earthing terminal and earthed metal parts exceeded the 0.5 Ω limit. The conductors on the supply cord were also deemed inadequate as the cross-sectional area was found to be 0.536 mm², less than the required 1.0 mm². Also, PVC insulated external wiring should not be used outside, however, the accompanying information indicated that the floodlight could be used outdoors. Furthermore, the instructions did not contain adequate safety information and details to ensure the correct and safe use of the product. The product was also missing some of the required documentation and markings and does not comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
