The product has been identified as presenting a risk of fire, burns and electric shock due to multiple safety defects. The product’s plug does not meet the dimensional requirements of the relevant standard (BS1363), presenting an electric shock hazard when plugging it in, or pulling it out of a mains electrical socket. The plug itself was incorrectly rated for the fuse (link) fitted and the rated power of the appliance, presenting a fire hazard. The mains plug was also not fitted with a fuse link conforming to the relevant standard (BS1362), and was incorrectly rated for the plug and supply cord fitted. Additionally, the mains supply cord was too thin, had excessive resistance and was protected by an incorrectly rated fuse link.
