- The product presents a serious risk of electric shock because it is inadequately earthed. The earth wire had not been connected inside the floodlight. The resistance between the earthing terminal and earthed metal parts exceeded the 0.5 Ω limit, and the cross-sectional area of the earth wire was so small that it melted when the test current was passed through it. The cross-sectional area of the conductors / supply cords was unacceptable. Additionally, the supply cord sheaths had split at the point of entry to the floodlight case allowing access to basic insulation on the conductors.
